The world’s top player, Jannik Sinner, easily defeated Taylor Fritz to win the US Open and complete a year-long Grand Slam.

Sinner wins his first US Open title, easily defeating Fritz. With an easy victory over Taylor Fritz, the world’s no. 1 player Jannik Sinner completed a year-long Grand Slam by winning the US Open. At Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday, top-seeded Jannik Sinner of the world defeated American Taylor Fritz in the US Open 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 to win his second grand slam singles championship.

Fritz, ranked 12th in the world, was vying to become the first male American to win a grand slam singles championship in 21 years. The last man from the United States to accomplish this feat was Andy Roddick, who was present on Sunday and won the 2003 US Open.

In January, the 23-year-old Sinner won the Australian Open after going on an 11-match winning streak. He becomes the second Italian singles champion in the history of the US Open, after Flavia Pennetta, who took home the women’s singles title in 2015.
