Tokyo Railway Death: Four Men Arrested for Alleged Murder
Takano was then reportedly taken to a rail crossing in Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward by one of the suspects, 34-year-old Akihito Shimahata, with 39-year-old Shunta Nozaki following behind in his own vehicle. Shortly after, Takano entered the tracks and was fatally struck by a train.
Tokyo police arrested the four men on Sunday on suspicion of murdering Takano by staging a “suicide” on a railway crossing. Police believe Sasaki and Iwaide were aware of the plan despite not being present when Takano died.
The train driver reported seeing Takano throwing up his hands in what appeared to be a kind of celebratory gesture before the collision.
Given the timeline and their proximity to the victim before his death, police are investigating whether the suspects compelled Takano to enter the crossing.
