US Military Claims To Have Killed Al Qaeda-Aligned Group Leader in Syria
The attack was intended for Abu-‘Abd al-Rahman al-Makki, a prominent member of the Hurras al-Din, an Al Qaeda-affiliated group, according to a post on X by the U.S. Central Command. Friday’s strike in Syria resulted in the death of a senior leader of a militant organization linked to Al-Qaeda, according to the US military.
According to a social media post by the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strike was directed at Abu Abdul Rahman al-Makki, who was “a Hurras al-Din Shura Council member and senior leader responsible for overseeing terrorist operations from Syria.”
CENTCOM stated that Hurras al-Din is a Syrian-based militant group affiliated with Al-Qaeda that aspires to carry out attacks against Western and American targets worldwide.
