Biden asked Netanyahu to pull Israeli troops from Egypt-Gaza border: Axios

Netanyahu was urged by Biden to withdraw Israeli forces from the Gaza–Egypte border. As part of the first stage of a ceasefire agreement, US President Joe Biden asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to withdraw Israeli troops from Gaza’s border with Egypt so that negotiations could resume.

Netanyahu agreed to give up an Israeli troop position along a portion of the Egypt-Gaza border and partially complied with Biden’s request during their call on Wednesday, according to three Israeli officials.
One major point of contention in the first phase of the deal has been Prime Minister Netanyahu’s demand that the Israeli army remain stationed along the Philadelphi Corridor, which runs along the border between Egypt and Gaza.

According to Axios, “Israeli officials said Netanyahu agreed to give up one Israeli position along the border and partially accepted Biden’s request.”
