Recent developments in Pakistan’s political landscape have brought to light allegations of secret communications between Imran Khan and former ISI chief General Faiz Hameed, facilitated through Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi. According to sources cited by The Express Tribune, Hameed allegedly provided Bushra Bibi with advance information, which she relayed to Khan as divine revelations. The accuracy of this information reportedly reinforced Khan’s belief in his wife’s spiritual abilities.
The situation took an unexpected turn when an iPhone found in Chakwal allegedly revealed details of the relationship between Hameed and Khan. The Express Tribune reported that Bushra Bibi’s patience is wearing thin, and there are indications that she may consider cooperating with law enforcement. Speculation suggests that she might offer testimony in exchange for immunity, distancing herself and her close friend Farah Gogi from ongoing disputes.
Despite these revelations, Imran Khan remains resolute. During an informal interview with reporters at Adiala Jail, the PTI founder dismissed fears regarding General Hameed’s arrest, stating that if he were truly afraid, he would not have called for a judicial commission.
On August 12, Pakistan’s military confirmed the arrest of General Hameed, citing “multiple instances of violation” of the Army Act following his retirement in December 2022, as reported by Geo News. The military announced that a Field General Court Martial has been initiated, and Hameed has been taken into military custody.
The investigation into General Hameed’s activities stems from a petition filed by a land development company, Top City, which accused Hameed and his brother of acquiring properties through questionable means and blackmailing the company’s owner. The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the investigation in 2023, leading to the current legal actions against the former ISI chief.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on Bushra Bibi and her potential role in the investigation, which could have significant implications for Imran Khan and his political future.
