Israel’s air force on Monday suspended travel abroad for its service personnel, a military spokesperson said.Major General Tomer Bar, the commander of the Israeli Air Force, has prohibited his officers from traveling abroad, according to The Times of Israel. This decision comes as Israel anticipates a possible strike from Iran in the coming days.
“According to the assessment of the situation, the commander of the Air Force, Major General Tomer Bar, decided to delay flights for permanent Air Force personnel. There is no change in the directives of the Home Front Command,” an Israeli military spokesperson said according to Israeli state-owned Kan News.
The travel ban applies to officers and non-commissioned officers, while conscripts remain unaffected, the publication adds. Instructions for civilians stay the same.
The Times of Israel also reported that while local reports suggest Iran could attack within the next few days, the military is downplaying the potential risk.
The Israeli military also ordered on Sunday that all off-duty soldiers currently in Georgia or Azerbaijan must return to Israel immediately, as reported by Kan News.
Service personell pulled from abroad can use their time back in Israel on vacation or visiting family, the publication says.
