
Violence surges throughout the UK . A hate crime resulted in serious injuries to a man. A man in his 50s is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked in a suspected hate crime as pockets of violence flare up across the UK.
Police said witnesses reported seeing his attackers stamp on his head, as members of the public attempted to shield him from further attack in Belfast on Monday night.
A 15-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of riotous behaviour and remained in police custody on Tuesday morning.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said officers came under sustained attack from multiple petrol bombs, heavy masonry and bricks over a number of hours.
Disorder has now lasted for a week, with unrest witnessed across England and in parts of Northern Ireland.
