Two people critically injured in two separate shooting incidents in Brussels during the weekend. Two people have been critically injured in two separate shooting incidents in Brussels during the weekend. The first incident took place not far from the Rouppeplein in Brussels City Centre on Saturday evening. The second incident took place in the Kuregem area of Anderlecht on Sunday evening. Sunday’s incident was the 35th shooting in the capital since the start of the year.

On Saturday evening a young man was gunned down on the Rouppeplein in the centre of Brussels. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His assailent(s) fled the scene. The second shooting took place at around 10pm on Sunday evening in the Moderne Schoolstraat, a street not far from Brussels South Railway Station. Here too the assailant(s) fled.

In both cases the Brussels public prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation for attempted murder. Ballistics experts, forensics experts and a physician specialised in forensic medicine were dispatched to both crime scenes.

The Brussels public prosecutor’s office said in a statement that the investigations into the shootings are still ongoing and that no further comment will be made for the time being”.  

Sunday evening’s shooting was the 35th shooting in the capital since the start of the year. So far this year in Brussels 8 people have lost their lives after having been shot.
