Two people are dead, and six others were injured in an overnight shooting in downtown Orlando, according to police.

According to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith, officers reported shots fired around 1:07 a.m. Friday morning in the area of Central Blvd and Orange Avenue, with a second report of shots fired coming minutes later in the area of Washington Street and Orange Avenue.

The six injured individuals were transported to area hospitals for “further treatment,” according to Smith, where they are in stable condition.

Smith said that shortly after the reports of shots fired, a 17-year-old suspect was located and taken into custody. The teen had previously been arrested for grand theft in 2023, Smith said.
