London’s Metropolitan police said an intruder targeted a home in the area of Avenue Road – one of the most exclusive addresses in the British capital.
The burglar entered the property through a second-floor window around 5 p.m. local time (12 p.m. ET) on December 7 while the residents were not home, police said in a Monday press release
The homeowners are offering a £500,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, and a second reward of 10 per cent of the value of the recovered items for information that leads to the retrieval of the stolen jewellery.
“This is a brazen offence, where the suspect has entered the property while armed with an unknown weapon and violated the sanctuary of the victims’ home,” detective constable Paulo Roberts from the Central North Basic Command Unit, which is investigating the burglary, said. “The suspect has stolen £10.4m worth of jewellery, much of which is sentimental and unique in its design, and therefore easily identifiable.
