Just like Poland, Romania has also scrambled fighter jets this morning during the Russian attack on Ukrainian infrastructure near the border.

This came after a drone appears to have breached its airspace, the Romanian defence ministry said.

Radar first picked up the drone signal 8km inside Romanian national airspace in Tulcea County. The drone signal was then picked up near villages in Galati county, but there have been no reports of drones hitting the ground yet.

Romania scrambled two German Eurofighters – part of air policing missions in Romania – and later two Romanian-operated F-16 fighter jets.

The EU and NATO country shares a 650km border with Ukraine and has repeatedly seen Russian drone fragments fall on its territory.
